The Mövenpick Deira is a contemporary and stylish 5-star hotel located in one of the most diverse parts of the city and serves perfectly as a cultural hub to discover old Dubai. It’s only 4 kilometers from the airport which is perfect if you have a late evening flight as I did. If you have an executive room at the Mövenpick Deira, you get a complimentary pick up service from/to the airport. So no need to grab a taxi or wait for a metro. Sit back & relax. Movenpick Deira Hotel

A glimpse of Deira – Dubai’s business district

The hotel offers 5-star service with a Swiss touch. If you are merely here for business (poor you), you will find everything you need. There are plenty of comfortable meeting rooms, classy and spacious Executive Suites, fast internet acces, a gym (open until 11PM), a rooftop swimming pool and a top restaurant ran by the Indian culinary maestro Sanjeev Kapoor. All 216 rooms are equipped by triple glazing, so even though the hotel is close to the airport you can enjoy a tranquil night’s sleep.

“Stylish and classy 5-star hotel in the heart of historical Dubai, located close to the airport.”

However, if you have more time available in your schedule, you are only a 10min drive away from the actual heart of Dubai. Deira is mainly known as Dubai’s business neighborhood, surrounded by the Persian Gulf, Sharjah and Dubai Creek. However, it used to be Dubai’s commercial center, and therefore also called the most charismatic and authentic neighborhood of the city. It almost seems a world apart from the sky-piercing towers! Stroll through the marvelous Souks (spice, gold, fish, perfume, crafts), take an ‘Abra’ (traditional water taxi, for only Dh1) to cross the Creek and travel back in time in the Dubai Museum (Al Fahidi metro station, for only Dh3). Dubai rose from a Bedouin village to a megalopolis and global center of trade and tourism, and believe me when I say that Deira is the ideal starting point to get to know this city.

A glimpse of Palm Jumeirah – the iconic Palm Island

If you are spending the weekend here (taking into account that ‘weekend’ in Dubai means Friday & Saturday), you can take the daily shuttle to the hotel’s private beach: Oceana Beach Club on the iconic Palm Island Jumeirah on the other side of town (ca. 30min drive). The infinity pool, the dreamy palm trees, and the amazing view on Dubai Marina’s skyscrapers make Oceana Beach Club quite a location to work on your tan. Make sure you don’t get back to the hotel too early, because the sunset in this part of town is worth the wait.

Mövenpick Deira Hotel represents style, class and a very warm and personal approach. The staff is more than helpful and you will leave the lobby every day with a big smile on your face, that’s a promise!
