I can confirm: there is such a thing as a gastronomic heaven… high up in the French mountains! Only recently, Saint-Martin-De-Belleville has been elected best Gastronomic resort of 2016! Many visitors are crossing the valleys to have lunch or dinner here. We did our very best to try out as many as possible in order to share our experiences with you. Because, let’s be honest: every skier needs a good meal to survive the day!

Le Jardin de Joséphine: This tranquil little restaurant offers an excellent service, good food at a reasonable price. The setting is contemporary with wooden decorations and many plants that stimulate a relaxing atmosphere. We particularly loved the interesting menu with fresh, local and sustainable ingredients! Try out one of their specialties like ‘Pot au Feu d’Hiver’, ideal for winter times. The waitress recommended us a delicious local wine: Le Paroxysme de Julien Viana (with 3 grape varieties Mondeuse, Gamay and Pinot Noir).

Le Corbeleys: The owners Martine and Bruno welcome guests with a smile in this former alpinist chalet that is transformed into a restaurant. It is located in the middle of the ski slopes and offers a splendid view of the mountains. Settle yourself on the cosy terrace or enjoy the warm interior of the restaurant and don’t miss out on two of the restaurant’s signature dishes: Tarte du Bûcheron and Escalope Savoyarde. Following the owner’s wine preference, we ended up discovering a tasteful white wine: Chignin Bergeron ‘les Eboulis Domaine Quénard’.

Le Bouche à Oreille: When a bistro meets gastronomy, I guess you can call it bistronomie. And that is exactly what you can expect from Le Bouche à Oreille. The menu is based both upon local cuisine and renowned dishes from the Meilleur family. Don’t come here and look for tartiflette or fondue, but expect fine gastronomic cuisine such as veal shank, kidney with mustard sauce, and truffle risotto served in a very fashionable atmosphere. Don’t forget to ask for the exquisite wine list. The restaurant is situated at the top of the Roc des 3 Marches at 2700m, right in front of the Borgne glacier, and owned by the same family Meilleur as Hotel and Restaurant La Bouitte. The restaurant is exceptionally modern and luminous and on top of that you have a magnificent 360° panoramic view. It is absolutely phenomenal! You have easy access via Menuires, Saint-Martin-De-Belleville and Méribel.

La Bouitte: This apogee of all culinary experiences is called La Bouitte, owned by the Meilleur family, and received its 3rd Michelin star in 2015. It started as a small tartiflette brasserie and is currently the highest 3-star restaurant in Europe. Words can hardly describe the stimulation of the senses during our dinner here. But I will give it a try: read the article here.
