Spring is in the air. The sun is finally breaking  through so winter sports are probably the last thing on your mind. But just imagine gliding down the mountain in soft snow on a gorgeous sunny day. Sounds great, right? Spring is the ideal season for everyone who loves a relaxed and sunny vacation in the snow. You have until the end of April to go skiing in the French ski areas, so you still have plenty of time. But what makes spring skiing so

Don’t look for industrial chain restaurants here, you will only find restaurants using and promoting local products. We did our best to try out as many different restaurants as possible (quite challenging knowing that there are 40 restaurants in the village and 11 on the slopes). These ones are absolutely worth a visit: La Chamade This gourmet restaurant specializes in pork cuisine in all its forms. Chef Thierry Thorens is the author of many cookery books and the restaurant is easy to spot thanks to wooden

We experienced what authentic accommodation and a passionately personal service means in Morzine. Le Passe Montagne is a Bed & Breakfast that offers spacious apartments and chambres d’hôtes, together with an abundant breakfast every morning. Located right outside the city center (1.7 km), a free shuttle at 200m from the entrance brings you in 5 minutes to the ski lifts. After a jolly day on the slopes, guests can leave their ski gear to dry in a separate room. This is one of those places

Morzine is an authentic village in the heart of Portes du Soleil, known as the capital of this 650km ski area. Fall in love with the abundance of wood and slate, and the beautiful views of the valley full of fir trees! This Alpine town is situated close to the border with Switzerland and offers an easy connection to Geneva and both Avoriaz and Let Gets. Authenticity is key in Morzine: you won’t find any tall buildings here, only picturesque chalets. In total the village

9 times per year the La Bouitte restaurant transforms into a unique setting for a winemaker’s dinner. Each time the Meilleur Chefs invite a French winemaker who brings along the most exquisite vintages and exposes them during the evening. Based upon these vintages, La Bouitte’s chef invents a unique menu that accords perfectly with the wines. This original concept differentiates itself from the more conventional way of dining where wines are usually chosen in accordance with the dishes. Every time, more and more curious

Attention, kindness, and professionalism: these are the key values of La Bouitte, the famous hotel and three star Michelin restaurant that offers a premium ski experience in the heart of the French Alps. La Bouitte in the Belleville valley is definitely one to write down on your gastronomic bucket list. It’s a little slice of paradise nestled on 1500m altitude in the village of Saint-Marcel-de-Belleville, on the road to Les Menuires and Val-Thorens. This Savoie village with narrow streets has plenty of authentic stone

I can confirm: there is such a thing as a gastronomic heaven… high up in the French mountains! Only recently, Saint-Martin-De-Belleville has been elected best Gastronomic resort of 2016! Many visitors are crossing the valleys to have lunch or dinner here. We did our very best to try out as many as possible in order to share our experiences with you. Because, let’s be honest: every skier needs a good meal to survive the day! Le Jardin de Joséphine: This tranquil little restaurant offers an

For the ski laymen amongst us: Saint-Martin-de-Belleville is a pretty Savoie village at the heart of the Vanoise massif in the 3 Valleys - Les Trois Vallées. The village is spread over 22 hamlets in the same valley and it is known for its authenticity and unassuming charm. With its narrow roads, stone farms, and lofty bell tower, it has retained all the charm of the mountain villages of yore. Let’s explore together this famous winter sport area: what else does it offer besides

Leaving the many New Year parties and even more best intended resolutions behind us, we are ready for a new adventure! Let’s go explore the two largest ski areas in the world: Les 3 Vallées and Portes du Soleil. Because of our limited time we decided to take a flight from Brussels to Geneva International Airport (1h flight) and rent a car to explore the French Alps. First stop: Portes du Soleil, a 1.5 hour scenic drive from Geneva Airport in our Renault Captur.
