If you are looking for a combination of a tasteful design wine bar/restaurant and high quality in the Luxembourgish wine scene, Domaine Desom is the place to be. Next to its vineyards and caves, the family also owns a restaurant, a wine bar and a wine shop. During the weekends, they often organize live music concerts with interesting wine tastings and definitely my favorite restaurant at the Moselle!

Desom

Desom’s vineyards are situated on the Mosel’s left bank, covering an area of ca. 42 km between Schengen and Wasserbillig. Thanks to the southeast/southwest orientation of the vineyards and the micro climate, the family is able to create surprising tastes in its wines. Most of the other Luxembourgish wine producers mainly use their wines for local consumption, but Caves Desom also exports lots of wines.

Desom

Marc Desom invited us into his restaurant. He represents the fourth generation within the wine producing family Desom. In 2012 he started a full rebranding of the company, initiating a new concept and new digital marketing tools. The contemporary and stylish interior of the restaurant and wine bar reflects the entrepreneurial spirit of the next generation Desom. The French chef de cuisine brings classic and excellent dishes and the drinks on the menu vary from Crémants de Luxembourg, own produced wines, grape juices and home made digestifs.

Desom

Personal recommendation: as apéritif, you should definitely start with a glass of the Milésimmé 2011: a crémant based on Chardonnay grapes, but with a surprisingly dry and fresh and yeasty taste. The perfect combination for your main dish is a sole meunière with a glass of Chardonnay tasting like mature and exotic fruits.
